 Tibet is often called the “sea of song and dance” and very rich in culture heritage, high desert plateau with an average elevation of 4,000 m. Until recently forbidden to the outside world - situated just north of the mighty Himalayas, has opened its door for tourists and adventurisms.
The highest plateau on earth, rising more than two miles above sea level, has a unique form of Buddhism and culture, not found anywhere else in the world. You will tour Tibet's magnificent, ancient cities of Lhasa, Shigatse (the seat of the Panchen Lama), Gyantse and Tsedang. Touring the 4,800 meters high Kamba la pass to the turquoise Yamdrok Lake, you will view the awe-inspiring scenery of "the land of snows" - nomads steer their herds of yaks through vertiginous, snow-topped mountain passes, flat-roofed brick houses articulate the wide plains while labyrinthine monasteries cap remote hilltops. You will sense the extent to which this country's geography has influenced the development of a religious culture. This unique land is now easily accessible from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Schedule air services fly from Kathmandu to Lhasa, and back every Tuesday and Saturdays with additional flights on Thursdays from July.

Air China operates Boeing 757 service between the two cities; Overland on a scenic highway that retraces the old caravan trail and crosses 5,000 m passes (distance: about 963 km).
Visa: Access to Tibet is limited to organized groups. Visa applications have to be made through a registered travel agency in Nepal. A visa for China does not entitle you to travel in Tibet.
Accommodation: Tourist standard hotels with modern facilities as well as basic lodges.
Season: May through October is the most popular months.
Clothing: Lightweight clothes May through October and warm layered clothing from November to April.
